Re these foreign language congregations. Do they also teach their members how to speak the language of the country in which they now reside?

"You knew what the consequences were when YOU decided to leave The Truth. This is YOUR decision and the outcome is YOUR responsibility."
by nicolaou inhow many of us have had to deal with a version of that retort?!
it's hurtful and i suspect - for some - that's partly because of the nagging feeling that our families may have a point.. but do they?.
i was 15 when i got baptised, is it reasonable that as the 50 year old man i'll be on my next birthday i continue to be held to a decision i made as a schoolboy?.

I was a born-in, so when my parents told me "You knew the score when you left" I retorted "Yes, but it wasn't my decision to join".
That ended the discussion quite satisfactorily from my point of view.

I can only tell you about my brother Mike who once posted here as Englishman.
He was born with a defective mitral valve. It's a family trait that has thankfully passed me by. He coped OK most of the time but when he got into his 60's found that he could barely walk half a mile due to the associated atrial fibrillation. He pushed the NHS to operate sooner rather than later and eventually they repaired the valve. Once he was over the surgery he became like a dog with 2 tails and he and his wife have now resumed their love of foreign walking holidays. He's hail and hearty and blesses the Bristol Royal Infirmary!

it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".

Now that Gays can legally get married, if one of the gay couple want to become a JW would he or she have to get a divorce?
by booker-t ini remember years ago maybe 20 years ago an elder or co was giving a talk on armaggeddon and he said that we know we are close to the end when homosexuals get the same rights as straight people.
he said jehovah would never allow gay people to marry because it would be an abomination and he would do the same as sodom and gommorrah.
what if a member of a gay couple decides to become a jws would he or she have to get a divorce?.

I doubt if a divorce would be necessary. The JW's would most likely take the stance that same-sex marriage is no marriage and is therefore null and void right from the start, although this could cause legal problems, especially if the abandoned one found someone else. I would imagine the newly-converted one would have to cease dwelling with his partner and would most likely even have to give an undertaking never to be with him in an unchaperoned situation.
Quite why JW's think the good Lord has nothing better to do than to hang around watching what we do with our genitals is quite beyond me.
